Sk8Afrika was started by a skateboarder, Kevin Du Toit a.k.a. KDT156, kind of follows his own set of rules, and comes from a broken home only to come to realize at a young age that skating was his lifestyle and way of expression.
Born in Johannesburg, Kevin spent his youth in Benoni when his Dad worked for SAA and when his parents divorced he moved with his mom to Bryanston. His high school friend Greg Finch introduced him to skateboarding one afternoon while playing squash and he was hooked. After completing Fashion Design & Management College he went to Hollywood, California. He has spent the past decade being a filmmaker http://www.imdb.com and 5 1/2 years where working for Steven Spielberg at DreamWorks SKG.
Kevin’s out-of-the-box thinking was planned to go forward and create SK8Africa which has stemmed from knowledge, passion and understanding to get focused on what gives you joy in life. Skateboarding has so much to it and Kevin hopes to represent skating in a positive way.
It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice! God Bless - KDT156
